Well, by a Benjamin .357 PCP Bulldog. Possibly the best large caliber PCP hunting rifle on the market. Got a deal one one. Had been returned without being fired after someone decided it was too hard to fill using a hand pump. No doubt a novice to the sport/hobby/whatever. His learning experience is my gain. The unique baffle system & scads of Picatinny rail are what makes it look like a SciFi laser gun. Pellets are 81 to 150 grains in a 5 round rotary mag. As a bull-pup, it could double as a home self defense weapon, although it would never be a primary weapon.

Took out the Bulldog today. I'm astounded. I never use that word. The manual says it's factory set with a 3-4 lb trigger pull. Not this one. I need to measure it but I'd put it at 1.5# or so. It's not a 2 stage trigger like most air rifles. It's single stage with zero take-up. Crisp & consistent tho. I just need to get used to it. The next thing is the side-lever cocking. It takes so little effort even your arthritic granny could manage it. Report is louder than my other suppressed PCP rifles but quieter than a .22 short in a rifle oe an unsuppressed break barrel rifle.
I used a laser in the muzzle to bore sight it before shooting. Pretty close. Thats 5 shots to the left of the bullseye @ 20 yards, standing unrested rifle. Only one round didn't vaporize against the 3/16 steel back plate. It's the splat of lead lower right. All the other marks are lead shrapnel. The back plate is dented at the strikes.
This started as 145 grain .357 poly-tip hollow point. There's about 55 gr left here.
The camo tape gave it some texture on the super slick surface. Don't think it will stay. Safety is manual.
That's a Diana branded 4-16x40 AO mildot with exposed turrets. No illumination.

desertguns: I have no hands-on time with the Maximus. Reviews are mostly good. Lots of plastic throughout & the funky old-school receiver & scope rail of the 1077, 2260, etc. Its mostly assembled in the US using Chinese made subassemblies, barrel, stock. Single shot.

Jun 7, 2020 7:18:19 GMT -8
desertguns: Welcome Todd! I'd go with a Beeman Chief single shot rifle. It's the QB78 with a PCP tank instead of CO2. It's more accurate at range than the Chief II, AKA the Diana Stormrider. If you must have multi-round mags the Stormrider/Chief !! is OK.
