After 5 years of complaints about the bolt system on this rifle, Hatsan listened and introduced a side lever version. The AT44 series rifles have always used the side lever so I never understood why the slightly upgraded big brother used a bolt. What makes the bolt so uncomfortable is the high load spring tension on the firing valve, combined with a bolt too short to be actuated easily. A lever system solves both problems. Some gun pics for now. Target & pellet data to follow. Click on a photo to enlarge Adjustable cheek rest, butt to shoulder height & length of pull

45 yard target. That's a nickle not a quarter BTW. Shot were from the tripod shown above. Some might do better with a gun vise for inital scope adjustments. Top group are 5 shots of NSA (Neilson Specialty Ammo) swaged, 110 gr hollow point, dished bottom. nielsenspecialtyammo.com/products/110-gr-hp-fb-35-calBottom group are 5 Hatsan Vortex Big Bore Supreme, 81.02 gr made in Czech Republic, probably rebrand of JSB. That's 3 in the bullseye & 2 I pulled a bit. No complaints here. No scope adjustment when switching brands. Still charting MIL dot compensation by weight & yardage. Click photo to enlarge
