Identical to its .35 cal big brother, this .30 cal version with a 7 round mag is better for smaller jobs.
Starting at dawn, by the time the equipment was set up there was already a mild cross breeze. I decided to go ahead & try the longer range shooting using MIL dot compensation. The scope on this unit is better suited for the task. It's a Leapers 6-24x50AO with illuminated reticle. Kind of on the high-end of the low cost scopes. OK for getting a feel of what the rifle can do, or more accurately, what I can do with it. Targets pics will follow later -- Click on photo to enlarge

7 rounds of 44.75 gr Hatsan Vortex Supreme at 49 yards. This was after scope adjustment for the pellet. Zero set at 25 yards. One MIL dot vertically put it on the nose at 50 yards.
This group is 51.15 gr JSB Diablo Exact Match at 75 yards. Wanted to see how the heavy JSBs grouped so no scope adjustment or dot compensation. One flier. Space between rings is 1".
By the time I got to 100 yards a variable crosswind had come up. Not my best work but this is 100 yards using the 44.75 Vortex rounds, attempting MIL dot compensation. 1st shot on lower left was with cross hair on bullseye. The last 3 near center are 5 dots up & 4 dots right. That's 14 shots total so there was good grouping as I walked it up the target. Next time the breeze comes up I'll post pone hundred yard tests.
This was a 30 yard pellet test. Nielson Specialty Ammo 61.5 gr hollow points. Cross hair remained on bullseye for every shot. That walk around the park is all pellet variance. It may not be a bad pellet, but it's a bad pellet choice for this rifle. Will stick to 52 gr & under.

desertguns: I have no hands-on time with the Maximus. Reviews are mostly good. Lots of plastic throughout & the funky old-school receiver & scope rail of the 1077, 2260, etc. Its mostly assembled in the US using Chinese made subassemblies, barrel, stock. Single shot.

desertguns: Welcome Todd! I'd go with a Beeman Chief single shot rifle. It's the QB78 with a PCP tank instead of CO2. It's more accurate at range than the Chief II, AKA the Diana Stormrider. If you must have multi-round mags the Stormrider/Chief !! is OK.
