4/6/2021-4/10/2021 This is not the .25 cal Armada I already had. This is a synthetic stocked .25 Marauder Gen 2. No consideration for shot count is given. I expect no more that 16 consistent shots starting at a fill point of 3300 psi (300 over red line). Valve lockup at this pressure shouldn't be an issue with the Hill hammer spring. The stock valve will likely fail & have to be replaced sometime in the future. We'll see.
The rig is meant to stay light for carry purposes. The heavy Hatsan 4-12-50AO scope will be replaced with something around 10oz lighter after trials are done. A mix of shrouds & suppressors will be tested for accuracy & decibel levels on this this rifle and the .22 Marauder power tuned rifles.
I can't find an off the shelf Marauder Lothar match barrel in .25 but supposedly performance of the stock Crosman .25s is better than the .22s & .177s. Without a doubt, the Lothars made a difference over the Crosman barrels when shooting beyond 30 yards or so. I'll keep my fingers crossed on the .25 cal stock unit. Longer barrels would also increase pressure & yield high FPE but again, not an off the shelf item.
The real question I want to answer with the .22 & .25 power tunes is - Can the Gen 2 Marauder really achieve the power & accuracy of the $1500-$2000 class repeating rifles? Or does the cost of getting it in that ballpark negated the proposition? Plus, those are really bench shooters weighing about as much as an M-14. Not what I'm looking for right now.
So here's the first configuration for testing tonight or tomorrow AM.
Hill shroud - 4" longer than stock with additional baffles. This is to compare against suppressors (no shroud baffles).
Hill vented hammer, striker, striker plate & hammer spring.
Hill HFTP transfer port. Zero restriction. Port flow metering screw eliminated.
Bolt swapped from right to left handed.
More to come...
