I purchased one a couple months ago or I wouldn't even have than. Amazon still lists it but at $79. The gold bits are plastic but it's some sort of coating & seems pretty tough. It will shoot pellets but with a smooth bore (for BBs) it's not as accurate as a pellet-only gun. It's is surprisingly accurate with BBs.
What makes it unique is the long steel pump lever & metal octagonal barrel shroud. The barrel tube within is also steel. The hammer is actually the safety. In fact it's actually a bolt action gun. The typical guy that doesn't read instructions will have problems with it
The long pump lever makes it easier to pump than any other full-power pump model on the market, even on pump #10.

A minor thing that I really like, and would like to see more of - the manual recommends good 'ol motor oil as a lubricant. Barra is owned by an ex walmart executive. That's a very walmart approach to specialized airgun lube,😎
desertguns: Yeah, after I'm done with my latest plumbing problems. Mornings are cooling off again.

desertguns: I have no hands-on time with the Maximus. Reviews are mostly good. Lots of plastic throughout & the funky old-school receiver & scope rail of the 1077, 2260, etc. Its mostly assembled in the US using Chinese made subassemblies, barrel, stock. Single shot.
Jun 9, 2020 9:13:43 GMT -8
todd782: Thanks DG. How about the benjamen Maximus? Plus there US made.
Jun 7, 2020 18:00:59 GMT -8
Range Master: BT65SL in .30 cal long range target tests posted (or will be shortly).
Jun 7, 2020 7:18:19 GMT -8
desertguns: Welcome Todd! I'd go with a Beeman Chief single shot rifle. It's the QB78 with a PCP tank instead of CO2. It's more accurate at range than the Chief II, AKA the Diana Stormrider. If you must have multi-round mags the Stormrider/Chief !! is OK.
